Creative Visualization: An Introduction

By Martin Kelman It is so important to visualize what you seek. There are many exercises one can do to enhance the process. We will add to this as we go. Let your imagination go!

The Tree

This is a very good exercise to do in the morning. It awakens the spirit and grounds one for the whole day. It takes some focus at first but becomes a very quick way of touching spirit as you progress. The order in which you do this will differ with the individual. Place yourself in an area where you have room to spread your arms and feel unobstructed. Imagine yourself in a pasture, woods or park, somewhere outside.  You have to get to the point where you feel like you’re outside and you can feel the wind blowing but it is a very comfortable temperature and you can smell the flowers or grasslands.

Imagine that your body is the trunk of a tree and that your arms are the branches of the tree. Lift your arms and let leaves appear on the branches (arms) and let the leaves grow everywhere, feel the wind blowing the leaves, the sun, the birds.  Feel your branches and trunk and now let your feet grow roots, let the roots grow deep into the ground, and be this tree.  You may have to do this all at once rather than in stages, whatever works for you.

Let your imagination flow.  When you are done, remember to see the roots disappear so that you will be able to move (smiles) and reverse the order so that you come back to your body in the room. Some people even take big steps to break the roots they have created, some like the wind blowing their leaves off.  It is all wonderful, enjoy it!

Juggling the Golden Ball – The Power of Thought

There is a small but powerful chakra in the palm of each hand. Generally it is easier to close one’s eyes when trying creative visualization, but not necessary.

Hold your hands with palms up. Imagine a ball of light developing in one hand. It may be easier to do in one hand than the other and colours may vary. The ball of light will give off heat and you will feel this heat or heaviness in the one hand. Get a good picture of the glowing ball of light resting in your palm or just above your palm.  Now, move this ball of light to the other hand. I have found that a gentle arc or semicircle is good to send the ball to the other hand so that you can see it travel from one hand to the other. Let the golden light settle into the other hand. Feel the weight and heat of it. Let the ball sit there until you are very comfortable in seeing and feeling it and then move it back to the other hand. The shape of the path you use and the speed at which you move the ball from hand to hand will vary.

Playing with light and thought is a great way to develop the spiritual self and will help you understand the power of thought.
